Noosa Plumber

Even the best built homes need a little TLC every now and again. This is especially true in older properties where plumbing and electrical work may need a little upgrade after years of being left untouched. If you know that there is some work that needs to be done around the house, you have probably already looked at calling in a Sunshine Coast tradie to help you get the job done in an efficient manner. While the majority of the Noosa plumbers and the plumbers / gas fitters in the surrounding area are on the up and up, there are a few unscrupulous types looking to take your money.

The unfortunate thing here is that too many people end up booking the wrong tradie, and all because they want to save a few dollars. If you are calling around for quotes and you get one that seems a whole lot cheaper than the rest, your instinct might well be to bite and go with that person. The old saying about something seeming too good to be true generally holds firm in the tradie world, as the plumbers and gas fitters who severely undercut the others are usually the ones that you should never go anywhere near.

There are all sorts of horror stories going around about awful tradies, with one of the most common themes having to do with time. The story usually begins with the dodgy tradie showing up to do the work, taking a look at what needs to be done, and then telling the homeowner that they will return the next day to complete the job. As you may have already guessed, these so-called tradies are never seen or heard from again, leaving the homeowner having to begin the search for a reliable tradesman all over again.

While those sorts of stories are certainly frustrating, they are not nearly as bad as the ones where the homeowner is left out of pocket. There was the story of a concrete specialist going round the area offering to lay down a new driveway for just $5,000. That’s an exceptionally good price, and one that many homeowners jumped at. The only catch was that they were asked to pay half of the total amount up front in order to secure the deal. Once paid, the concrete guy would dig a hole before taking off with the money, never to be seen again.

The good news is that those types of situations are really not that common, but as a homeowner, you still have to be wary when choosing a tradie for your specific needs. Get as much information as you can about the business you are choosing, and try to find reviews from customers who have used that tradie in the past. Get a quote for the work and a timeline as to when it will be finished, and do not hand over any money until all the work has been completed. Doing that will help prevent you from having to tell a tradie horror story in the future.
